We all feel alone and vulnerable at times, but imagine you were homeless on the streets of Dublin, or new to Ireland without basic English, perhaps suffering with an addiction, or ageing and in need of appropriate accommodation and support.  To whom could you turn? Who would help you through your time of need? Since 1893, people have sought the sanctuary of, and have been supported by Dublin Central Mission (DCM). We help people isolated from society for any number of reasons be it loneliness, addiction, broken family, poor English, inability to find a suitable home.

How do DCM help?

How do DCM help?

In our city centre premises and other Dublin locations, DCM, rooted in a Christian ethos, has fostered communities by opening our doors to those in difficult times. In our welcoming environment, help is provided, new friendships formed, and people support each other.

DCM’s mission remains as it was since we first opened our doors. Ireland has changed immeasurably, and this transformation will only accelerate. People from nearly every country now live here, many with little or no support and changing demographics will result in a significantly older population in coming decades. We must continue to adapt.

We seek to expand our services to those in most need and we also wish to further develop our properties so we can welcome more people, better support our communities, and ensure even more can avail of our help.

Where do DCM help?

Where do DCM help?

  • Our Day Programmes: We bring local communities together, promoting active aging, engagement, socialisation and inclusion.

  • Our independent living communities: We provide residents with a comfortable and inviting home environment, where they can continue to lead a fulfilling and active lifestyle.

  • Our nursing home: where residents, who need additional care, receive the support they need and deserve.

  • In the City Centre: our Social Action programmes, where people with addiction challenges have told us time and again that coming to the building has saved their lives.
  • On the streets of Dublin: where the homeless we serve thank us, not just for the cup of soup or a pair of gloves, but for being recognised as a person with value.

  • In our Church: where we welcome people from over 20 countries, supporting all who come to us in need of fellowship
